COOKING FOR A CAUSE

Cooking for a Cause with LA Food Works

We are honored to present our Cooking for a Cause program to benefit Alexandria House, a transitional residence for women and children who are working to overcome homelessness. Community outreach and service are the cornerstones of this unique and philanthropic program available only through LA Food Works.

This wonderful feature can be added to any event. Our Cooking for a Cause option involves guests working together to create extra dessert to be donated to Alexandria House along with a $100 gift card for groceries. Since funds are sometimes short, something sweet is often not on the shopping list at Alexandria House. So when the dessert platters come in, moms and children alike light up with excitement. In addition, the extra money to help stock the fridge and pantry is always a welcome gift.

Cooking for a Cause is a sweet addition to the celebration of any special occasion and takes team building to a whole new level! Not only will you have a fun working with the terrific LAFW chefs – you and your guests will be making a meaningful and much needed donation to some very special women and children who are working so hard to improve their lives.

ABOUT ALEXANDRIA HOUSE

Founded in 1996, Alexandria House is a non-profit transitional residence and house of hospitality providing safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to permanent housing. Located in the densely populated and ethnically diverse Mid-Wilshire area, Alexandria House also serves its broader neighborhood community by providing educational and enrichment opportunities for residents and neighbors alike.

In response to the compelling needs of the women and children living in the house, as well as the neighborhood needs before us each day, the goal of Alexandria House is to be a community-oriented transitional house and neighborhood center which is intentionally multicultural, antiracist and where the needs of women who are economically poor are central.
